Maintaining Faith and Hope in a Chaotic World
Life can be a rollercoaster at times. With unexpected turns and drops, it is easy to lose hope…at least if that hope is rooted in pleasant circumstances. Fortunately, we have tools available to us that’ll ground us in something that won’t be shaken when the storms of life come. The Bible, also referred to as the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (NKJV).
The word inspiration in this verse does not refer to a mental stimulation to do something creative; it is the Greek word theopneustos, which means a presumed derivative, divinely breathed in given by inspiration of God. This tells us that every word we read in the Bible is God-breathed and with breath comes life, so the Word of God is alive!
Gods Word is the manual you need for every area of your life. No matter what it is you are currently facing or going through, pull out your manual, and it will give you instructions on how to fix your circumstances and state of mind.
Build Faith in Jesus
Christ is the Rock you can cling to in times of trouble. Psalm 63:8 reads, “I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely” (NLT). Jesus is with us through the thick and the thin. Others can be used of God, certainly, to help through life’s turbulent weather but it’s only Christ who can truly hold you up completely. As you learn more about Him through the Bible, you can grow to trust His ability to lead, guide, and comfort you. The trust you place in God is essential to helping you cope with life’s difficulties. Even in your darkest moments, He is with you and He is good.
Find Strength in Hope
God sees you and He cares about you. He sent His son Jesus Christ to die for us so that we can live an abundant life, to have a future and a hope. Jesus is our hope. In Christ, all your best days are ahead of you. Take a moment to pause and think about that. This is the true hope of the Christian. No matter what may come in this life, it is not the end. God will one day restore all things. Justice will come and all will be made right as believers enter into their heavenly home. This is a truth that can ground you when all seems lost. This is not all there is! However, hope also is found in knowing that God sees and is in control. No matter what is happening in your life, God can always turn it around. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV). Good is always coming and that is a true hope!
As you cling to Christ by building faith and hope, no matter how bumpy the ride can feel at times, you will be able to make it through the journey. When all of life comes crashing down, you can test the promises of Scripture and find them to be true. God is with you, He is strong in the storm, He will take care of you, and He will not let go of you.
